At Clay Subaru, it’s our mission to help drivers in Norwood find the best vehicles for the best prices. We currently have a large selection of new 2025 Subaru SUVs for sale, including new 2025 Outback and 2025 Forester models available. Both vehicles are ideal SUVs for any driver around Newton, offering legendary performance and capability, along with spacious and comfortable interiors, cutting-edge features, and more. However, the two models do have their differences. To help you get a better idea of which vehicle is the best fit for you, we’re going to compare the new Subaru Forester and Outback lineups to highlight some of the things that each model does best.

2025 Subaru Outback vs. 2025 Subaru Forester

Performance

Both the Subaru Outback and Subaru Forester models offer legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a system that makes traveling in the poorest weather around Brookline or the most rugged terrain as easy as a daily trip to the coffee shop.

The Subaru Forester and Outback models both come with the same standard engine as well. It’s a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine with 182-horsepower and 176 pounds-feet of torque, resulting in a commanding and capable driving experience that makes trips to Dedham easier and helps you save fuel along the way. The difference between the two vehicles is that the Forester only comes with that one engine. The Outback has an available 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 260-horsepower and 277 pounds-feet of torque, providing you with a stronger and sportier driving experience.

Towing

Do you need a vehicle that can handle all your towing needs around Sharon and across the country? The Subaru Forester lineup offers standard towing of 1,500 pounds, which is enough for trailers, smaller boats, campers, and more. If you choose the Forester Wilderness model, you can tow up to 3,000 pounds, helping accommodate larger trailers and vehicles. The Subaru Outback lineup offers standard towing for 2,700 pounds, making it a better option if you’re going to be towing frequently. On higher trim levels with the stronger engine, you can tow up to 3,500 pounds with confidence and ease.

Size

The new Subaru Outback and Subaru Forester models are similar in size, with the Outback offering slightly more space for cargo, but the Forester delivering more space for passengers. The Forester has 111.9 cubic feet of passenger volume, compared to 109 cubic feet in the Outback. The Outback offers 32.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, with the Forester offering 28.9 cubic feet instead.

Technology Features

You’ll always be connected on your trips to Stoughton and beyond with a standard Starlink multimedia system in every new 2025 Subaru Forester and Outback model. Both vehicles offer the system on a touchscreen display, though they vary. This year, the Forester offers a standard 11.6-inch touchscreen display on every model, providing you with easy access and control of various features right in front of you. The Subaru Outback models have dual 7-inch touchscreen displays on the Base trim level only. All other Outback models have the same 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen as the Forester does.
